Old Stuff

The old zrinsky.us was also built on Hugo, you can read about it in some old posts, like this one about the old CSS theme or even this old post which was about the taxonomy templates I use in Hugo.

Fresh Start

Back then I was not doing front-end development all the time for work so I was a bit out of touch and didn’t want to invest the time to make everything from scratch. So the CSS actually came from a free theme I had found, which I then modified to my liking.

Nowadays though I have been doing font-end development with CSS3, HTML5, Bootstrap 5, JavaScript, libsass, and Hugo way more regularly. So this site uses all of that along with the underlying partial templates I have been working on for my side-business Style King .biz.

This is all built on my own custom Hugo template using my own custom Bootstrap 5 scss. It’s also using my own responsive image templates in most places, but it’s a work in progress.

Dragon & Carp

I talk about the design a bit here in the about section.

In a nutshell (from wikipedia) In Chinese mythology, Longmen (lit. 登龍門 "Dragon Gate") is located at the top of a waterfall cascading from a legendary mountain. The legend states that while many carp swim upstream against the river's strong current, few are capable or brave enough for the final leap over the waterfall. If a carp successfully makes the jump, it is transformed into a powerful dragon.

Copyright Fish

Some of the fish in my aquarium are 16 years old this year. My amazing goldfish were the inspiration for my Copyright fish at the bottom. I wanted to incorporate fish into the design somehow and the combination with the dragon above is something I am liking right now.

Currently he is static but I have a user story in my backlog to enable some variable replacement so the year gets dynamically generated. That will make my soul happy. I also have a backlog item to animate the bubbles and some other aspects of the design, because you know.. fun. I also want his little mouth to move when the bubbles come out. *blub* *blub*

This is why I am working on automated AI Agents… so many things so little time. I’m guessing that is what everyone else is working on too, which is why I can’t get a job interview.

Some Tasteful Stripes

I like a good stripe. I always like some nice hazard stripes and things like that. I have a few designs I have done in the past where I used some cool overlays of lines in progress bars and things like that. I am always a fan.

I saw these cool stickers from Teen Beat though and it just felt right, so I dropped a little stripe action in as a little accent image in the title line.

I think it looks pretty good.

Wrap It Up B

This is NOT a deep dive into the new site and that is OK. This site is a work in progress still and I have quite a few backlog items to work on as time permits.

Part of the reason I wanted to push a fresh site is so that I can make more frequent updates. I have a big list of content I want to write here to showcase my projects, however I want to also start making shorter, more frequent updates as well, like this one.
